ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT ASSESSMENTS (EA)

Environmental auditing is essentially an environmental management tool for measuring the effects of certain activities on the environment against set criteria or standards. Depending on the types of standards and the focus of the audit, there are different types of environmental audit.

Environmental auditing is used to, Investigate, Understand and Identify major environmental problems and sick redress of the challenges.

Our Environment Audits are used to help improve existing human activities, with the aim of reducing the adverse effects of these activities on the environment. Our team of environmental auditors will study an organisation’s environmental effects in a systematic and documented manner and will produce an environmental audit report. There are many reasons for undertaking an environmental audit, which include issues such as environmental legislation, pressure from the environment management authority, i.e. NEMA and operators’ willingness to comply with environmental laws and legislations.

In Kenya, while EIA are supposed to be carried out by the owner of a property/facility through a licensed NEMA Environment Expert, EA, it’s the responsibility of the facility operator to conduct EAs through a licensed NEMA Environment Expert.

All projects that are subjected to EIA, are supposed to conduct periodic EA after every 12 months of operation and file an Environment Audit report with Environment Management Authority. This mainly for the purposes of evaluation and issuance of compliance documents.
